Motorcyclists caught

Two motorcyclists — one from Deanside and the other from Wollert— had their vehicles impounded by police in Diggers Rest on Saturday 1 November as part of long weekend police operation.

Police observed the two motorbikes, both without registrations plates, riding in convoy north along Plumpton Road about 12.30pm.

Officers were able to intercept one of the motorbikes and spoke to the 40-year-old female rider from Deanside.

Not only did she have outstanding matters with police, but she was allegedly unlicensed and provided a positive roadside drug test.

She was bailed to attend Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 13 January.

Shortly later, officers located the other rider hiding in some bushes a few hundred metres up the road.

Following a short foot chase, the 49-year-old Wollert man was arrested.

He also had outstanding matters with police, was allegedly unlicensed and returned a positive roadside drug test.

He was bailed to Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

This comes as Victoria police launches Operation Furlong, a statewide road policing operation taking place over the Melbourne Cup long weekend.
