Motorcyclist dies in Yarraville after truck collision

A motorcyclist has died after crashing into a truck in Yarraville on Tuesday morning.

Police investigators believe the motorcycle struck a parked truck whilst travelling north on Williamstown Road near Somerville Road just after 6am.

The motorcyclist, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene before paramedics arrived.

Williamstown Road is currently closed and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined and police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The incident is the latest in a horror run of fatalties involving pedestrians, motorcycles and trucks on local roads.

A man died after being struck by a motorcycle in Footscray early Monday morning.

A woman died after being hit by a truck in West Footscray on August 22.

Another man died when his motorcycle crashed on Ballarat Road in Footscray on August 18.

A female cyclist died in Yarraville in March after colliding with a truck.
