Mo man is walking tall

A Wyndham Vale man is taking this year’s Movember challenge way beyond facial hair.

As well as cultivating his finest moustache for the annual men’s health fundraiser, Bradley Brown will take on a 32-kilometre walk from Werribee to Flinders Street train station on November 18 in a bid to boost his fundraising attempt.

Mr Brown has raised more than $50,000 for the annual fundraiser since 2012.

“This year I wanted to do something different for people to support … something that other people haven’t done,” he said.

“And hopefully along the way meet some people and talk to them about what I’m doing and spread some information about Movember.

“Men globally, and especially in Australia, don’t seem to want to talk about their feelings, especially when it comes down to mental health and depression and things like that.

“People need to know that there’s help out there and they need to know that they can pick up the phone and call a mate and have a chat.”

Mr Brown said he had initially planned to do the walk solo, but has already heard from people inspired to join for some or all of the challenge.

A team from Movember headquarters will join Mr Brown for the last part of the walk.

Mr Brown is calling on others to sign up and take part in Movember this year.

“It’s a really good talking point, especially for those who don’t normally have a moustache and all of a sudden they grow one,” he said.
