Massive $36 million win for Gisborne family

The search has ended for the mystery Macedon Ranges millionaire.

A Gisborne family has won a division one prize in last week’s $110 million Powerball jackpot draw.

The winners, who wished to remain anonymous, said they didn’t expect to wake up $36 million richer.

“You never know until you get it confirmed,” the woman said.

“We just kept looking at the numbers. I was saying ‘the numbers are not in the same order as the computer’ so I wasn’t sure if the order mattered or not and whether we’d really won.”

The family held one of three division one winning entries across Australia.

The ticket was purchased at Mid-Town Lotto at Gisborne Central Shopping Centre and was not registered to a Tatts Card.

Lotto owner John Kelly said he and his team were thrilled the winning ticketholder had claimed their prize.

“The win has created a bit of buzz around town that’s for sure,” he said.

“We’ve had this store since 2001 and this is the first division one winning entry it’s sold.”
