Man dies in Clarkefield crash

A man died when his vehicle and a ute collided at Clarkefield last night.

The crash occurred at the Melbourne-Lancefield and Sutherlands road intersection just before 7.30pm.

The man was travelling south on the Melbourne-Lancefield Road. He died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Victoria Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

The road has been the scene of more than 150 crashes, including six fatalities, between June 2010 and June 2015, according to VicRoads.

It has been earmarked for a $20 million safety overhaul with works set to start in September.
