Man dies after car hits tree in Hesket

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a car crash in Hesket on Tuesday morning.

They said the man was travelling on Romsey-Woodend Road about 10km west of Romsey when the car left the road and crashed into a tree about 9.30am.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, died at the scene.

Police would like to speak to a female motorist believed to be aged in her 40s who spoke to officers at the scene.

They said she was driving a small burgundy sedan but left without providing her details.
