Malmsbury Cricket Club is frustrated with council’s lack of communication about works on its clubhouse following floods last year, which has left them reliant on Eskies.
The floods, which swept through the grounds in October, caused extensive damage to the clubhouse and all of its contents.
Club secretary Matt Cox said he was frustrated the council had been receiving updates on the clubhouse and not passing them on.
“It’s very frustrating,” Mr Cox said.
“[the council] got an update two weeks before [they] told me.”
Star Weekly sent an update request to Macedon Ranges Council on March 13 in regards to running water and power.
Council said “the club was informed of progress of works on February 9, 202,3 and an update on insurance repairs was provided on March 14, 2023.”
In this update, the council said “water was restored to the Malmsbury Cricket Club changeroom facilities on February 10, 2023.”
Mr Cox said while there is running water in the bathroom there is not any in the clubhouse.
“Unless you want to make a cup of tea from the bathroom,” he said.
“But that’s not how things work normally.”
Council also said its has “requested a further update on the permits for the canteen and pavilion”.
While council have completed works to the fencing, cricket nets and filled in the pot holes on the gravel driveway, Mr Cox said the work has not been up to a high standard.
“They fixed the driveway, but it’s not a smooth drive ground,” he said.
“I went back to them saying… nothing’s level, nothing’s straight.”
“I just think it’s a bit slack, it’s frustrating.”
With the baseball season starting soon, Mr Cox said he would like to see the clubhouse back to working order.
“The clubhouse needs to be returned back to an operating clubhouse for baseball season… It’s been going on for six months, there’s not [a] set date.”
