Work has begun on a long list of road, intersection and footpath upgrades in the Macedon Ranges.

More than a dozen projects are listed on the council’s summer works schedule, part of its $4.1 million road and footpaths budget for 2015-16.

Deputy mayor John Connor and mayor Graham Hackett were at Gisborne South last week to inspect works at the intersection of Couangalt and Benson roads.

New street lighting, traffic islands and asphalt are being installed at the notorious blackspot.

Other projects in the Gisborne area include footpath improvements along Scenic Court and road reconstruction on Brady and McGregor roads.

New sections of footpath are being built on Wedge Street at Kyneton. Roadworks will also be completed on the Kyneton-Springhill and Redesdale roads.

Sandy Creek Road at Riddells Creek will be widened, while road, drainage and footpath upgrades are scheduled for Templeton Street at Woodend. Footpaths will also be built or improved at Lancefield, Romsey, Macedon and New Gisborne.
