Macedon Ranges detectives are hunting a firebug believed to be responsible for a series of suspicious fires lit near Metcalfe, Rosewall and Elphinstone on Wednesday night.
A police spokeswoman said the grass fires were all ignited beside the Old Calder Highway, Taradale-Metcalfe Road and Malmsbury-Metcalfe Road around 10pm.
There were no injuries and no property damage was reported.
