Macedon Ranges Art Trail’s largest show will take place just outside the region this long weekend.
Sunbury’s The Boilerhouse Gallery will host the Eclectica exhibition, as the local group reaches out to its newer, wider-reaching connections.
Macedon Ranges Art Trail (MRAT) manager Nadine Hartnett said the historic setting of the Boilerhouse was the home of Sunbury Art Society, which joined the Macedon Ranges group’s promotional program last year.
She said that after MRAT began in 2012, artists living outside the Macedon Ranges came forward wanting to be promoted, develop artistically and to meet creative peers and network with art supporters.
“Our members still mostly reside or run businesses in the Ranges, but over the past few years we’ve welcomed some wonderfully talented artists from Sunbury,” Ms Hartnett said. “This is our first event outside the shire and we’re hoping it opens up a new audience of followers and supporters.”
About 50 artists have prepared hundreds of original works including paintings, photographs, pottery, jewellery, glass art and textiles.
Gisborne painter and art educator Helen Cottle will demonstrate acrylic painting techniques throughout the exhibition, and Macedon’s Lara Le Reveur will showcase her expertise working with contemporary clay.
The opening night of Eclectica will be held at The Boilerhouse Gallery, Jacksons Hill on Friday March 9, from 7.30-9.30pm.
The artworks will continue to be on display on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11 from 10am-5pm, and on Monday, March 12 from 10am-3pm.
Entry is by gold coin donation.
