A Macedon man has been charged following an alleged ramming of a police vehicle in a stolen vehicle on Friday night.

The 18-year-old was charged with six counts of aggravated intentional exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, reckless conduct endangering life and theft of a motor vehicle.

A 19-year-old Lancefield man was also present in the vehicle. He has been interviewed and released from custody, but currently no charges have been laid.

At 9.45pm on Friday, it is alleged a white Toyota Corolla was stolen and reversed into a police vehicle at the intersection of Queen Street and La Trobe Street in Melbourne’s CBD.

Police officers had stopped behind the Toyota and were approaching to speak to the driver when the driver reversed it into the police vehicle.

The driver then allegedly collided with two other stationary vehicles on La Trobe Street, before the pair got out of the vehicle and were arrested on Spencer Street.

All three vehicles involved were towed from the scene.

Police confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.

The Macedon man was remanded to Melbourne for a committal case to be held on February 8, 2022.
