The community is being given an opportunity to look inside the new Victorian Emergency Management Institute at Mount Macedon on Sunday, April 29.
The world-class training facility, which offers programs and activities for the emergency management sector to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies, officially opened in February after undergoing extensive renovations.
The site, at 601 Mount Macedon Road, Mount Macedon, was formally home to the Australian Emergency Management Institute.
It was bought by the Victorian Government in 2016, along with the golf course, which is managed by Mount Macedon Golf Club.
Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley said a lot of hard work had gone into the institute’s redevelopment.
“It has been great to see the institute leading the way, fostering multi-agency training and developing the next generation of leaders in emergency management,” Mr Lapsley said.
The accommodation facilities have been upgraded and contain 52 rooms and new technologies have been installed. The 75-seat theatre has been refurbished.
The institute’s open day will offer emergency services displays, tours of the building and gardens, virtual reality demonstrations and golf competitions.
There will also be a barbecue fundraiser for local Scout groups and kids activities such as face-painting.
It will run from 11am-3pm.
