Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health’s Queers on the Catwalk was one of 20 events to receive state government funding to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

The $5,500 in funding was announced by Equality Minister Martin Foley Sunday, March 13, as part of the Pride Events and Festival Fund.

Queers on the Catwalk invites LGBTIQ+ people, young and old living in the Macedon Ranges and surrounds to use their clothes as a canvas to express who they are – with an event date yet to be announced.

Organisations could apply for up to $10,000 in funding, and all events will include LGBTIQ+ people with disability, making sure to deliver some events digitally to increase accessibility.

“These grants are just one example of the Andrews Labor Government’s commitment to creating safe, strong and sustainable LGBTIQ+ communities across Victoria,” Mr Foley said.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas announced the funding at this year’s Chillout Festival in Daylesford, a regional pride event, and said it was “fantastic” to see so many grants awarded to LGBTIQ+ groups in the regions.
