Evenings training under car lights that barely cut through winter fog will soon be over at Woodend-Hesket Football Netball Club.
Power to the club’s netball courts at Gilbert Gordon Oval will be upgraded, in part thanks to a $10,000 grant provided by car maker Holden last week.
Club president Stuart Braddy said 80 metres of trenched wiring would link the court’s light poles with the change rooms, ending netballers’ reliance on a fickle generator.
‘‘Woodend is dark after 5.15pm in the winter … many training sessions have been held using headlights from cars parked around the court.”
