Following concerned community feedback, Macedon Ranges council will no longer require residents on High Street in Lancefield to move their fences as part of footpath construction.
Council’s assets and operations director Shane Walden said the plans had been reviewed in response to issues raised by residents.
“Our officers have developed new evaluation criteria ensuring this project is able to continue without impacting fence lines,” Mr Walden said.
“This outcome ensures that the township has good connectivity for people of all abilities along the new 265 metre concrete footpath connecting into the existing footpath in this area.”
A council statement said new evaluation criteria takes into account “existing constraints and hazards, and the overall impacts to the footpath plans and compliance”.
“It is anticipated that works will begin later this year. Once confirmed, council will advise residents on the planned commencement date for construction,” council said.
