Lancefield Equestrian Group is preparing to host a state championship horse riding competition this weekend, after triumphing in the event last year.
On March 17 and 18, Lancefield Park will be the scene of Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria 2018 Mustad Saddleworld Top Teams Trophy Combined Training – a two-day competition featuring Victoria’s best dressage and showjumping competitors.
Lancefield Equestrian Group committee member Hayley Drummond said the club had been preparing to host the event for nearly 12 months.
The committee has undertaken earthworks to prepare the area where the competition will be held, on the south side of Lancefield Park off Millers Lane.
Riders will be travelling from all over Victoria to compete and will camp at the park overnight on Friday and Saturday.
Lancefield Equestrian Group has three teams in the championships.
Ms Drummond said it would be a great weekend for horse fans with events running from 8am on Saturday through to 4pm on Sunday.
The event is open to the public. Entry is free.
