Labor reclaims victory in Sunbury and Macedon

Josh Bull is set to be re-elected with an increased margin as Sunbury’s MP following tonight’s state election.

Mr Bull was sitting on more than 66 per cent of the two party preferred vote at 10 pm last night.
He held the seat by 4.3 per cent prior to the election.

With more than 60 per cent of first preference votes counted, Mr Bull had polled 10,832 votes ahead of Liberals candidate Cassandra Marr (5572) and the Greens Ryan Keable (1353).

 The Sunbury electorate includes Melbourne Airport, the Sunbury campus of Victoria University and the historic Emu Bottom Homestead.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas

Meanwhile, Macedon remains a Labor seat after Mary-Anne Thomas was re-elected.

 With 50 per cent of first preference votes counted in tonight’s election, Ms Thomas had polled 10,954 votes ahead of the Liberals’ Amanda Millar (6410), the Green’s Ralf Thesing (2275), Independent Rob Bakes (744) , Animal Justice Party Ruth Parramore (885) and Democratic Labor Party Tony O’Brien (636).

The Macedon electorate takes in Blackwood, Bullarto, Daylesford, Gisborne, Glenlyon, Hepburn Springs, Kyneton, Lancefield, Macedon, Malmsbury, Mount Macedon, Riddells Creek, Romsey, Taradale, Toolern Vale, Trentham and Woodend.
