A student at Sacred Heart College Kyneton has tested positive to coronavirus.

The school was informed of the positive case earlier today and has been closed for deep cleaning.

It is expected to remain closed until Thursday.

In a letter to parents, principal Darren Egberts said the student was last at school on Thursday, July 30 and was tested on Saturday, August 1.

The student also travelled to and from Kyneton Secondary College on Friday, July 31 to access a work placement.

Mr Egberts said there was a possibility remote learning may not commence until Monday. A decision is expected to be made by the end of the day.

Members of the college community have been contacted regarding the case via email and staff have begun contacting students, staff and bus travellers who have been determined as a likely close contact of the student.

The college said updates would continue to be provided to parents, staff and students as information becomes available.
