Three Kyneton residents are on a mission to make it easier for people to support local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paul Tagell, Lee Sandwith and Jessica Grant are behind the Kindtown website and Facebook page which aims to promote Kyneton businesses that are still open.

Mr Tagell created the website, which local businesses can add themselves to in order to promote their services.

Ms Grant and Ms Sandwith then created the Kindtwon Facebook page to further promote the businesses.

Mr Tagell said he started Kindtown after searching for local businesses offering delivery services.

“My wife is [immunocompromised] and we weren’t sure which businesses around town we could use and were offering delivery and takeaway,” he said.

“I saw the writing was on the wall for businesses and I thought there has to be a way for people to support them.

“If they shut down, who knows how long it would be before they came back again.”

Mr Tagell said that in addition to promoting local businesses, the Kindtown Facebook page encouraged Kyneton residents to be kind to one another.

“It’s been really nice, people have started putting flowers on random people’s doorstep. It’s taken on a life of its own,” he said.

“It has been really well supported.”
