Organisers of a Koorie night market in Woodend believe the event will build bridges and encourage Macedon Ranges residents to engage in reconciliation.

They also hope the market will be the first of many indigenous cultural events in the area.

The market, at Woodend Community Centre from 3-8pm this Saturday, will showcase leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and musicians as part of a partnership between the Macedon Ranges Reconciliation Group and Koorie Night Market Inc.

Koorie Night Market chairman John Baxter says people will be able to buy unique gifts from the people who made them, and enjoy great live performances.

The market will also include food stalls and workshops showcasing traditional skills.
