Kids gear up for Great Sunbury Gnome Hunt

Children taking part in the Great Sunbury Gnome Hunt next school holidays are being warned … it will be no small task.

In its third year, the annual Goonawarra Primary School event has been expanded to include other schools, among them Sunbury, Sunbury West, Sunbury Heights, Killara and Sunbury College.

Spokeswoman Heidi Saffrey says passports, listing 25 businesses hiding garden variety gnomes, will be made available at the schools for $10.

Pupils and family members can then visit the stores, find a gnome and have their passport stamped for the chance to win prizes.

Businesses will also offer discounts for gnome hunters.

‘‘It’s a great way to have fun, raise money for school improvements, and see what local businesses have to offer,’’ Ms Saffrey says.

‘‘There’s no obligation to make a purchase, or to find every gnome.’’

The hunt will run from June 25-July 10. Click here for details.
