In honour of the 100-year anniversary of one of the Anzac’s greatest victories, at the Battle of Beersheba, Ken Atkinson has raised $7500 for the Creswick Light Horse Troop.

The Woodend resident of 20 years presented the troop with the donation at the Woodend Clock Tower on Sunday.

The Creswick Light Horse Troop travels around Australia depicting the Light Horse of World War I, to preserve the memory of the Australian Light Horse.

Mr Atkinson is a veteran himself, having served in World War II, and his father and his uncle served in World War I.

Also a member of the Woodend RSL, Mr Atkinson co-ordinated the sale of Gallipoli paraphernalia – scarves, socks, ties and rugs – around Macedon for the past three years.

From the profits he donated $6000 to Woodend RSL as well as the contribution to the Creswick Light Horse Troop.
