Jurassic Park or Lancefield Megafauna Festival?

Extinct creatures will be brought back to life at Lancefield Megafauna Festival on Saturday.

Paleontologists and scientists will discuss the incredible discoveries of megafauna remains in Lancefield and the history behind them.

The findings of last year’s archaeological dig and the latest research will be shared by the professionals.

There will also be a range of activities around the town, including a giant megafauna puzzle for budding archaeologists and a session on giant bubble making.

Museum Victoria will have megafauna bones on display and scientists will be available to chat at the swamp site.

The whole town is getting into the historical theme, with local eateries putting on mega-themed menus and megafauna artwork is on display around the streets.

The centre of the festival will be at the High Street Centre Plantation, to coincide with the Farmers Market, which will run until 1pm.

Kyneton Street Band will be setting the tone and tours featuring local history and flora will be taking place.

Bookings are needed for some of the activities and tours.
