Sunbury Ladies Probus Club is on the hunt for new members.
President Patricia Pratt and vice-president Sylvia Anderson said the club, open to retired women in Sunbury, is a great space to connect with locals and make new friends.
“A lot of people miss the people they used to work with (once they retire),” Ms Pratt said.
“Consequently, it’s wonderful for them to join Probus because they can continue friendships.”
The club meets once a month, and meetings include a guest speaker or presentation alongside a short business meeting, followed by morning tea.
Sunbury Ladies Probus also joins up with the other local Probus groups around Sunbury to attend outings across Victoria.
The group also has some big events coming up, including celebrating the 50th anniversary of Probus and the club’s own anniversary for its 36th year, both happening later this year.
Ms Pratt said the ladies are a lovely bunch to hang out with, with about 60 current members.
“When a new person comes, everybody makes them feel welcome,” she said.
“The new member almost gets a mentor so they know exactly what goes on, takes them around, and what to expect.
“We give you three meetings to let you know if you really want to join us, and then after that, you’re officially a member of the club.”
The club meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at 10am at the Sunbury Social Club.
