Sporting clubs in Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges can now apply for state government funding to assist in bringing infrastructure projects to life.

The 2021-2022 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is now open to clubs across the region, with a total of $27 million up for grabs.

The initiative intends fund projects across five streams: indoor stadiums and aquatic centres, female friendly facilities, community sports lighting, community facilities and planning.

A state government spokesperson said the fund is particularly focused on providing infrastructure that encourages female participation in community sport.

Sunbury MP Josh Bull encouraged local clubs to get involved.

“Better facilities allow clubs to take on more players, host more events and draw in bigger crowds. This funding is a terrific opportunity for our community,” Mr Bull said.
