Indoor centres fit to reopen

Macedon Ranges indoor pools, gyms and leisure centres have begun to reopen as coronavirus restrictions gradually ease.

The Gisborne Aquatic Centre reopened its doors to patrons on June 26, while fitness centres in Kyneton and Gisborne were back in business on June 29.

The Kyneton Sports and Aquatic Centre reopened on July 1 and all leisure centres across the shire will reopen on Monday, July 13.

Limits on the number of people allowed at the venues are in place, in line with government regulations.

A maximum of 20 people are permitted on site at any one time and up to three people are permitted per lap lane.

Signage at the reopened facilities has been erected to urge visitors and locals to comply with physical distancing directions and to practise hand hygiene.

Sports grounds, playgrounds, skate parks, libraries and the Hanging Rock reserve have already reopened to the public.

The council will look to reopen other community facilities in line with government advice and subject to appropriate restrictions to ensure the health and safety of the community.

Information regarding reopening dates of community halls, customer service centres and other council facilities will be provided as reopening arrangements are confirmed.
