Commuting will soon become a little easier for Macedon Ranges residents using public transport.
New timetables are on the way for V/Line trains and for buses travelling to Sunbury from Romsey and Lancefield.
V/Line passengers who use Malmsbury, Macedon, Riddells Creek and Clarkefield stations will have the option of 27 new train services as of Sunday, August 27. Nine extra services on Saturdays and Sundays will increase the frequency of daytime weekend trains from about every 90 to every 60 minutes.
The late-night service on Fridays will be extended to run every week night.
Trains will leave Southern Cross Station at 11.52pm and stop at Malmsbury, Macedon, Riddells Creek and Clarkefield on the way to Bendigo. A new weekday off-peak service will leave Southern Cross at 9.52pm.

Romsey and Lancefield residents commuting to Sunbury and Clarkefield stations will get a revised bus timetable from Thursday, August 17.
Three morning bus services between Lancefield, Romsey and Sunbury will depart earlier.
City commuters will be able to catch the 8.22am V/Line train from Clarkefield and will no longer have to wait 87 minutes for a connecting service.
Students attending Sunbury Downs College will no longer have to wait 75 minutes at Sunbury station to catch the next bus to get to school on time. The new timetable is available at ptv.vic.gov.au.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the state government had organised the new bus timetable following a strong community campaign.
