Hume COVID-19 tally tops 800

Hume’s coronavirus case tally has topped 800.

The municipality has recorded 810 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, and there are currently 381 active cases.

Hume has the third highest number of active cases in Victoria after Brimbank (526) and Wyndham (519).

Active cases in the Macedon Ranges now stand at 10, an increase of two in the past 24 hours. The shire has recorded 20 cases overall.

There have been six deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday, including a man in his 50s,

Five of the six deaths were related to aged care facilities.

To date, 77 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.

Premier Daniel Andrews said workers were continuing to be the “biggest drivers” in case increases.

“If you are sick, even mildly, you just can’t go to work,” he said.

“Otherwise, these restrictions will be in place for longer than they should be. And I am sorry to say, we’ll see more people die.”
