How Sunbury and Macedon Ranges benefit from the state budget

Sunbury and Macedon Ranges schools are the main beneficiaries from the 2017/18 state budget.

Sunbury Downs Secondary College will receive $3.9 million for much-needed upgrades.

Primary schools in the Macedon Ranges will also receive funds to modernise their facilities.

Gisborne Primary School has been allocated the most funding at $1.6 million, followed by $472,000 for Mount Macedon Primary School, $90,000 for Bolinda Primary School and $64,000 for Darraweit Guim Primary School.

The long-desired Bulla bypass was allocated $200,000 for VicRoads to design the plans.

Member for Sunbury Josh Bull said that its construction is subject to funding from future budgets.

The budget neglected other transport planning and infrastructure priorities in Sunbury identified by Hume City Council prior to its announcement.

The council called for funding for the Sunbury Road Duplication, traffic lights at Gap Road and Horne Street, and additional parking at Sunbury Railway Station, all of which were disregarded in the budget.

More to come.
