Hospital board applicants encouraged

Victorians are being asked to consider how their leadership, financial skills, local knowledge and lived experience could benefit the state’s hospitals by joining health service boards.

Victorians with diverse backgrounds and careers, particularly those with an interest in public health systems and expertise in finance and health governance are urged to apply for a range of board positions at hospitals across the state.

Positions include directors and chairs at some of Victoria’s largest health services, as well as Ambulance Victoria and Healthshare Victoria.

“We are eager to see applicants who reflect the communities they will serve – helping us to improve the health outcomes of all Victorians by working with people who bring different perspectives to the table, said Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas.

“We are investing more than ever into our world-class health system and reforming how we deliver care – that is why it’s so important we have board members who offer a diverse range of ideas, perspectives and skills.”

Boards are responsible for setting the organisation’s strategic goals, aligning with the direction of the broader health system, setting up systems to monitor performance and ensuring the organisation is operating in a safe, effective and sustainable manner.

Applications are now open and close on Sunday, November 24.

Each position will commence on July 1, 2025 and has a term of up to three years.
