Macedon Ranges council is inviting feedback from the public on local law changes and its footpath plan.

At a meeting on Wednesday March 22, councillors endorsed local law changes and a shire wide footpath plan, with public feedback invited from March 28 to April 30.

The local laws, which get renewed every 10 years, contain some key changes around gambling advertisements, heavy and long vehicle parking, construction waste management, the use of fireworks and unsightly land.

Deputy Mayor Jennifer Anderson invited the public to provide feedback on the laws.

“Everyone should love where they live and feel safe within their community,” Cr Anderson said.

“Now is the chance to provide your feedback on what will become our own community specific enforceable laws for the next 10 years.”

The footpath plan is also available for feedback and will prioritise walking and shared path upgrades, while providing transparency around the design and location process, council said

“Since this plan was adopted, council has spent close to $4 million on the delivery of footpaths as part of our capital works,” Cr Anderson said.

“This revised plan provides a clearer strategy to guide us on which of the already identified upgrades to prioritise… and how we propose to work with the community early on design options.”
