The little singing voices of the 1sts Gisborne Scout Group Joeys brought delight and joy to the residents at Gisborne Oaks aged care home.

Christmas carols and other beloved songs like the Grand Old Duke of York and a Shooting Star Is Not a Star rang through the halls.

Assistant Joey Scout leader Rebecca Hunter said it was gorgeous to be back after a couple of years away due to COVID-19.

“To be able to get in and sing again was an absolute joy, for the residents, for me, for the kids,” she said.

“We had residents with tears in their eyes because they hadn’t seen the kids for two years, it’s something we’ve been doing for a number of years.

“The children were beaming, I was beaming and the residents said how lovely it was to see the kids’ shining faces.”
