People with business and sports management skills, historians, teachers and archeologists, are needed to ensure a broad range of talent is behind the delivery of the new Hanging Rock masterplan.
Macedon Ranges council and the state government have joined forces on a new masterplan for the iconic rock and its surrounds, which include a nature reserve, an outdoor music and festival venue and a horse racing track.
Council’s chief executive Peter Johnston said a new advisory committee was being set up to advise the council’s own committee of management.
“We are looking for people with experience in the areas of community leadership and participation, economic development, business leadership and innovation, tourism and events, environment, biodiversity or conservation,” Mr Johnston said.
“Those who have a background or knowledge in financial management, history, archaeology, heritage, education, and management or organisation of sport and recreation activities are also encouraged to apply.”
The new advisory committee will help finalise the draft masterplan, and kickstart any recommended actions.
Meanwhile, council and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning are spending a $1 million state government grant on improving toilets at the Hanging Rock visitor centre, upgrading the entrance road and replanting. Applications for the committee close at 5pm September 20.
