Hanging Rock Cricket Club is among three sport clubs in the Macedon Ranges and surrounding areas to receive a funding boost.

The club will receive $2978 for new equipment and uniforms.

Central Highlands Orienteering Club will receive $1465 to purchase new equipment and the Daylesford Football Netball Club will receive $2636 to go towards training, a new instructor, equipment, uniforms and injury prevention.

The grants are part of more than $750,000 being distributed across Victoria by VicHealth.

Northern Victoria MP Wendy Lovell welcomed the money.

“Taking part in community sport is a great way to make new friends and get active with others while also improving your own health and wellbeing,” she
said.

VicHealth acting chief executive Lyn Roberts said the money would be used to promote VicHealth’s This Girl Can Victoria campaign.

“We’re thrilled to be able to support local sporting clubs in the Macedon area to provide more opportunities for the community to get active through a sport they enjoy,” Dr Roberts said.

“These grants will help get more Victorians in the Macedon area into the game by offering modified or social versions of traditional sport where your age, ability, background, lifestyle or gender isn’t a barrier to taking part.”
