Grape time with pooches and pizza

Enjoy the perfect day out with your fur baby at Cleveland Winery in Lancefield.

Dogs will be welcome every Sunday at the winery, while owners can enjoy a glass of wine and traditional wood-fire pizza at the Pizza and Pooches event, which launched last week.

Winery marketing manager Elissa Hayes said the weekly event was the perfect way to enjoy the change of season with man’s best friend.

“We know how much people love to go places with their dogs,” she said.

“We have our vineyard dog Jack, and we noticed when guests were on the property, how much they loved to see him and pat him.

“That shows that people love to interact with dogs so why not let people bring their dogs along?”

“We thought with spring, with the weather getting warmer, why not open our venue for people to bring their dogs, have a wood-fire pizza and have a glass of wine.

“They can sit on the grass surrounding the winery. We’ve got a chardonnay terrace which has an outdoor area situated on the edge of the vineyard.”

Ms Hayes said dogs of all breeds were welcome at the event to interact with other four-legged pooches.

Pizza and Pooches will run every Sunday between noon-3pm until December 1 at Cleveland Winery, 55 Shannons Road, Lancefield.
