Sports clubs in the Macedon Ranges are being encouraged to work with council to apply for the state government’s Country Football and Netball Program.
There are $2.5 million worth of grants available, to support new facilities, replacements and upgrades to existing facilities at football and netball clubs across rural, regional and outer metropolitan Victoria.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said regional clubs, like those in Macedon, were a breeding ground for the next generation of sporting champions.
“They deserve modern, safe and accessible facilities they can be proud of,” she said.
“Better facilities allow clubs to take on more players, host more events and draw bigger crowds, creating a real buzz in the community and boosting local economies.
“I urge football and netball clubs here in Macedon to talk to their local shires and councils to kick start projects that can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
The government said grants of up to $250,000 are available to redevelop and build new ovals and netball courts, install LED sports lighting and build or redvelop existing pavilions.

“There’s also a strong focus on supporting clubs in communities who have recently experienced natural disasters such as floods, or clubs in communities that are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage, strong population growth or other economic challenges,” the government said.
