Goonawarra Primary School celebrates 30 years

The Goonawarra Primary School community will next month celebrate the school’s 30th birthday.

The school’s parents and friends group will host a fete on Friday, October 20, to mark the milestone.

The fete will cater for all and will include live music, a silent auction, pony rides, a jumping castle, an animal farm, a pupil art exhibition, food vans and stalls for over-40s.

Parents and friends group committee member Meaghan Hindmarsh said she hoped people from right across Sunbury would enjoy the birthday event.

“It’s a community event – we want people from all over the community to come,” she said.

Ms Hindmarsh said the school was particularly hoping to see past students and staff at the event.

The primary school, on the outskirts of Sunbury, has almost 400 pupils – nearly double the number of students at the school 15 years ago.

The fete will take place at Goonawarra Primary School, on Gullane Drive, Sunbury, on Friday, October 20, from 3.30-8.30pm.
