Close to 70 people were at Gisborne library to hear domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty last Wednesday.

Holding the floor for about 45 minutes, the Australian of the year said it was important that the community continued to talk openly about the issue.

Ms Batty also took questions from the audience and signed copies of her new book, A Mother’s Story.
