Every year, Gisborne Primary School pupils put on their gloves and whip out their buckets to take part in Clean Up Australia Day.
This year, on Friday, March 3, each grade level will get involved once again.
“At GPS we love to clean our school but we also like to help clean up the community as well so it is nice and clean for everyone to look at as well as being safe for the wildlife,” year six pupil Abbey said.
Foundation and year one classes will enjoy learning activities about living sustainably while year two classes clean up the school grounds. Year three classes clean up surrounding streets, and year four pupils clean up around Jacksons Creek.
Year five and six classes head over to Daly Reserve and clean streets of the neighbourhood.
The school said it aims to educate the pupils, as well as the community, about how they can make an important difference even by implementing small changes.
Benson, in year six, said he likes “to look after our school and our animals”.
