Sunbury and Macedon Ranges women are encouraged to get together for a Girls’ Night In to raise funds for women diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancers.
Gisborne resident Vanessa Harris is preparing for her fourth Girls’ Night In as part of the Cancer Council’s campaign.
Money raised from the Girls’ Night In goes to Cancer Council’s work in research, prevention and support services for women’s cancer.
“Every year it seems I am having a friend or acquaintance diagnosed with cancer,” Ms Harris said.
“Some have been winning the battle and others haven’t. I have felt helpless and have been wanting to ease their burden but my efforts never feel like they are enough.”
Ms Harris has raised more than $4000 for the Cancer Council since her first Girls’ Night In in 2016.
“To help beat women’s cancer it’s vital to raise funds,” she said.
Ms Harris’s Girls’ Night In is on Friday, October 25, at Baringo Food and Wine Co, 283 Station Road, New Gisborne.
Cost is $55 per head and includes a share starter, main meal, drink and small dessert.
