The state announced it will provide up to $6.4 million for 27 kindergartens across Victoria to fit them out with furniture and equipment.

Service providers opening a new kinder delivered by the state will receive funding to prepare for their opening, providing desks and chairs, fixtures like blinds and lamps and equipment such as stoves, dishwashers, play and IT equipment and medical items.

Eligible purchases made over the past six months will also be reimbursed, ensuring that state-delivered kinders opening in 2025 are ready for children to learn from their very first day.

Children Minister Lizzie Blandthorn said that the state aims to increase kinder places in modern facilities each year and that young children have “so much to gain and learn from the opportunities provided through kindergarten.”

Funding amounts ranged from up to $100,000 for single-room kindergartens providing 33 licensed places to up to $400,000 for four-room kindergarten services providing 132 licensed places.
