Old-fashioned family fun is on offer at the Woodend Primary School’s Carlsruhe Country Fair this weekend.

Fairgoers can take a dip down a 30-metre slide, test their fear of heights on a rock climbing wall, make their way through an inflatable obstacle tunnel or hop on a trackless train and horse and carriage ride.

There will be arts and crafts stalls and food stalls offering homemade jams, cakes and wood-fire pizzas.

This year, there will be a focus on ensuring families have fun, while minimising the impact on the environment.

Food scraps from the food stalls will go in a compost bin provided by the school which will then be used in an educational program to feed the school’s hens.

Teams of students and parents will be washing dishes and paper or material bags will be provided to hold purchased goods.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their own water bottles to be refilled at the nearest water station on the day.

The fair is on Saturday, November 30 at Nicholson Street, Carlsruhe between 10am-4pm. To purchase ride wristbands, visit: bit.ly/2pCvLWQ
