Friendship seats aid social skills

Youngsters who need a little help with social engagement are benefiting from the installation of four ‘friendship seats’ at Sunbury’s Killara Primary School.

Teacher Robyn Smith says research shows making and keeping friends doesn’t always come naturally for some children, who often need help from parents and teachers.

The environmentally-friendly seats, made from recycled plastic bags, allow children who are looking for a friend to sit and meet others who feel the same way, under guidance from student leaders and staff.
