The Malmsbury Botanic Gardens will be transformed into a wonderland for the annual Malmsbury Village Fayre.
The fayre, now in its 18th year, will take visitors down a rabbit hole into an Alice in Wonderland-themed day.
Fayre committee member Maeve Ashby said she was looking forward to the event.
“The best thing about it is that it’s at the Malmsbury Botanic Gardens which is one of the oldest gardens in Victoria,” she said.
“There are these beautiful shady spots, so come with a picnic rug and settle down.
“There will be over 80 stalls, entertainment [and] live music all day. Keeping in theme with Alice in Wonderland, we will have a mad hatter story-telling area, story-time with songs and there’ll be these massive butterfly stilt walkers.”
Fayre goers are invited to let their imaginations run wild, taking in every aspect on the fun-filled day.
“I think it’s really about having a sense of wonderment in the beautiful gardens and walking around and discovering the pockets of the fayre,” Ms Ashby said.
“It’s almost like everyone attending is their own Alice. There’ll be different things in all different areas.”
About 4000 people attended the event last year. Ms Ashby is expecting an ever bigger crowd this year.
“It’s doubled in size in the last three years, it has gotten real big, real fast,” she said.
“It’s quite close to the station, people can take the V/Line and walk.”
The Malmsbury Village Fayre is on Sunday, November 17 at the Malmsbury Botanic Gardens, 5 Ellesmere Place between 10am-4pm. Cost $2 per person.
