A Kyneton cafe and foodstore has received a flippin’ good boost.
My Flippin Kitchen was one of 467 Macedon Ranges businesses that received a $10,000 grant to help with the impacts brought on by coronavirus.
The money can be used to cover operational costs such as staff salaries and utilities.
The grant is a part of the state government’s Business Support Fund, which provides payments for eligible businesses that have wages below the payroll tax threshold.
Nearly 80 businesses across the region have also received a full payroll tax refund for the 2019-20 financial year, totalling more than $1.5 million in immediate government support.
The payroll tax refunds are part of the state government’s $1.7 billion Economic Survival Package which includes tax deferrals and rent relief for commercial tenants.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the grant money was helping to tip “millions” of dollars back into the Macedon Ranges economy.
“This coronavirus pandemic has clearly had a devastating impact on lives and livelihoods – but we are giving our local businesses the support they need to survive,” she said.
“We are fighting for every job and every industry across the Macedon Ranges to ensure we get through to the other side.”
