The Macedon Ranges Music Festival is turning the volume up high next month to help raise funds for the Woodend-based Cambodian Kids Foundation.

Revellers can come and see some of their favourite bands perform.

A great line-up of musicians from across Australia and locals will be on stage at Gisborne Steam Park on March 4, including Stonefield, Lloyd Spiegel, Matt Borg Trio and David Spry, who will be contributing their performances to make the fundraiser a success.

Director Jimmy O’Hare said the festival is run by volunteers as a family-friendly event, with all sales, food and beverage profits going towards the festival’s chosen charity.

“We’ve got two stages of live music – one for local musicians and one for the Australian groups,” Mr O’Hare said.

“The local musicians can also compete to win the lead slot for next year’s festival, which is a nice incentive for them.

“We’re going bigger and better this year for the festival in the hope of raising as much as we can for this charity.”

The festival runs from noon until 10pm and features two stages of live music, as well as food and market stalls, and kids activities.

There will also be three “sideshows” in the lead-up to the festival, including an acoustic/roots night at Big Little Baby in Macedon on the February 10. This will be followed the next week by Rock and Soul at Woodend’s Vic Hotel on February 18, and a Blues night at Baringo Food and Wine Co on February 24.
