Expanded carparking at Macedon Ranges stations

Works are now underway to deliver car parking at Gisborne and Riddells Creek stations on the Bendigo Line.

Gisborne Station will soon have 100 upgraded car parking spaces, as well as four accessible car spaces and 15 bicycle hoops. Extending the existing car park on the north side of the tracks, it will replace the gravel area currently being used for parking.

At Riddells Creek Station, there will be 50 new car parking spaces, including three accessible spaces and 10 bicycle hoops. Accessed via Hamilton Street, the new parking will be constructed to the east of the existing one.

Macedon Ranges council is also constructing a footpath to connect the additional parking to the station via road upgrades to Hamilton Street.

Public Transport minister Ben Carroll said the state government had already delivered 14,000 new and upgraded car parking spaces at stations across Victoria.

“The expanded car parking at Gisborne and Riddells Creek stations will encourage more local residents to use public transport,” Mr Carroll said.

Works at the stations include installing lighting and CCTV, wayfinding signage, improved pedestrian access and landscaping.

The government said the projects were being delivered by VicTrack as part of the Car Parks for Commuters Program.

“Civil construction company Ace Infrastructure is delivering the car parks on behalf of VicTrack, following a competitive tender process. Ace Infrastructure has significant experience in delivering station car parks and is also delivering new and upgraded car parking at Kyneton, North Shore and Beaufort stations over the coming months,” the government said.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the upgrades would support community growth in the region.

“The addition of new bicycle hoops at Gisborne and Riddells Creek stations also give people sustainable options to travel to the station,” Ms Thomas said.
