Eight arrested in Sunbury drug raids

Eight people have been arrested in Sunbury as police continue to crack down on drug crime in Melbourne’s north-west.

Seven warrants were also executed on Wednesday and Thursday as part of a major operation targeting drug, theft and weapons offences.

Officers from the Fawkner divisional response unit, Embona taskforce, Hume crime investigation unit and the dog squad were involved.

Those arrested include a Sunbury man, 26, on drug, weapon and bail offences.

He will face Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.

Another Sunbury man, 28, has been remanded to appear in court on April 14, facing charges including handling stolen goods and possessing an imitation firearm.

A 42-year-old Sunbury man has been bailed to face court on July 6 on drug, firearms and ammunition offences.

A Sunbury woman, 20, will face charges relating to drug and bail offences when she returns to court on April 19.

Two men, aged 20 and 26, will be charged on summons with possessing a drug of dependence, while a 20-year-old Sunbury woman received a drug diversion notice.
