Duo arrested after cop clash

Two men have been arrested after striking a police officer with a stolen vehicle in Diggers Rest on Wednesday afternoon.

A stolen vehicle was seen in Diggers Rest around 1.30pm, and stop sticks were deployed on Aviation Drive.

The driver and his passenger sped off in the car and struck a police officer.

The vehicle was then dumped at Watergardens Shopping Centre in Taylors Lakes, and the two males were arrested inside the shopping centre.

The male senior constable was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
