Driver killed near Gisborne

A woman believed to be aged in her early 40s has died after a single-vehicle crash near Gisborne on Monday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on Gisborne-Bacchus Marsh Road.

They said the van was travelling east when it left the road and crashed into trees about 9.30am.

The driver, who was the only occupant, was trapped in the van and had to be removed by SES crews.

She was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition but died on Monday afternoon.
